Entrecortes (or «between cuts”) is an archive, a collection of images gathered and appropriated from Brazilian news websites between 2018-2019; precarious and disposable images that come back to life within this environment, where the rhythm is defined by the speed of the click, by the destinations that each of the images hides. An experience that takes place in the tension of sounds and images, so Entrecortes is also an exercise in montage.
Entrecortes is a digital installation created by visual artist Romeu Silveira formed by 40 rooms, where explosions, landslides, murders, accidents, global tensions, local crises, tragic events, visions and fragments of reality are stacked, overlapped, creating new senses and temporalities, within a non-linear path.
Romeu Silveira(Brusque, 1988) lives and works in Brazil. His research is developed through speculative and accumulative processes around technical images, giving value to poor images or questioning the value of high definition images through appropriation and a wide range of interventions, operating between the analog and the digital, the material and the immaterial. The decontextualization and the creation of new narratives are a constant in his production, which reveals itself in photographic series, collages, video installations, websites and publications. He has participated in group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad such as the interventions at the Printemps Haussmann (Paris, FR), in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, he was awarded with the French Alliance Contemporary Art Prize, which earned him an artistic residency at the Cité internationale des arts (Paris, FR). He has already published the books Contretemps (2021), Everything and nothing (2020) and Ruínas (2019).
zero-Editions is a platform created in 2020, which works through experimental processes of publications and artist books, virtual installations and fanzines. It is a publishing house, an archive, an artist’s studio, an space in process.
