Endémica is the first exhibition organized by Culto Colecta, a contemporary art platform aimed at promoting fair conditions for artists and cultivating a new generation of collectors. The exhibition brings together a diverse collection of nature-inspired works created by artists working in Mexico. With its blend of graphics and drawings, it challenges the notion of human exceptionalism by immersing the audience in the realm of the symbolic real, crafted by artists through various visual narratives.
Andronik Khachiian, founder of Culto Colecta and visual artist, explains:
“For me, collecting art is about establishing an intimate dialogue with artists. The idea for Culto Colecta arose from my fascination with artists in Mexico, whom I met while launching the AYARKUT Foundation, which supports art projects related to social issues. Working with institutions like PAC, SOMA, and Lolita Pank, I discovered bold, independent art that I wanted to include in my collection. As I began collecting, I realized that many people, even those outside the art world, shared an interest in collecting but didn’t know where to start. We created this project to support independent artists and cultivate a new generation of collectors.”
The exhibition showcases numerous carefully selected contemporary artists, including: Adrian White, Aleph Escobedo, Alberto Odériz, Álvaro Verduzco, Andrea Bores, Andronik Khachiian, Ángela Ferrari Lassalotte, Blanca González, Cosa Rapozo, Charlie Godet Thomas, Carlos Iván Hernández, Cynthia Yee, Daniela Ramírez, David Zafra, Diego Beyró, Munir Toral, Enrique Minjares Padilla, Fabiana Mapel, Fernando Cerna, Fernando Zarur, Francisco Hauss, Gonzalo Garcia, Ismael Sentíes, Jeanie Riddle, José Eduardo Barajas, José Lepóv, Juan Carlos León, Karel Munnúzuri, Luis Campos, Marek Wolfryd, Marisol C.
