Curated by Yina Jiménez Suriel, the Materia Abierta 2026 public program will consist of a series of lectures, performances, and concerts exploring the figure of caves through their sonic materiality. Participants include Ariel Byía, Leda Maria Martins, Skye Arundhati Thomas, Yina Jiménez Suriel, Firas Shehadeh, Interspecifics, Kelman Duran, and others.
We will delve into these resonant spaces, places of connection between mythological and spiritual worlds. In these subterranean refuges, movements of resistance and visions of radical transformation have been conjured. Caves are planetary ears and passages between worlds that link us to geological temporalities beyond the human. They are living entities, sacred sites capable of returning us to a state of intimate contact with the fundamental frequencies of life.
