Keynote lecture by Yolanda Wood

Highlighting the relationships between Caribbean art and artists of the 20th and 21st centuries and the intellectual thought of key figures such as Aimé Césaire, Édouard Glissant, and Frantz Fanon will allow us, in this lecture, to trace connections that open up dialogues of great depth and critical relevance. In doing so, the engaged and situated dimensions of these connections will emerge—not only on an emotional and affective level, but also through the symbolic, poetic, and strategic configurations of Caribbean visuality—through a selective catalogue of works that have marked significant moments in the region’s artistic production.
