Terremoto is one of the recipients of Fundación Ama Amoedo’s inaugural grant program 💛

We are very grateful to the foundation’s generous support of this project, which seeks to continue building critical dialogues between the artistic practices and other sources of knowledge within our continent.

We are pleased to announce that Terremoto is one of the two recipients of Fundación Ama Amoedo’s new grant program in the Organizations category. The grant will be used to contribute to the funding of Travesías Terremoto, an innovative interdisciplinary artist-in-residence program that will take place starting in March 2024. 10 grantees were selected in different categories (Artists, Art and Social Engagement, Organizations and Publications) following an open call with over 2,000 applicants from across the continent and the Caribbean.

We are very grateful to the foundation’s generous support of this project, which seeks to continue building critical dialogues between the artistic practices and other sources of knowledge within our continent, drawing on the legacy of Terremoto Magazine.

With a predominant focus on South America, Fundación Ama Amoedo’s Grants aim to make cultural and social diversity visible, recognizing and celebrating the multiplicity of approaches, generations and trajectories. “The proposals selected in this first edition coincide in the mission to broaden the panorama of opportunities for the visual arts. The projects invite reflection, experimentation and also, demonstrate a deep commitment to artistic practice,” Founding Director of the Fundación Amalia Amoedo said in a statement.

The Jury was composed of Sonia Becce (Independent Curator), Marina Reyes Franco (Curator, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico), Yudi Rafael (Independent Curator and Researcher) and on behalf of the Foundation, Verónica Flom (Director, Fundación Ama Amoedo): “As a jury, the selection presented great challenges due to the excellent quality of the applications. We are certain that the Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants constitute a structural support in encouraging and materializing innovative visions in various production contexts. The selected projects will represent a direct contribution to the field of Latin American art and will generate a positive impact on the various communities in which they are embedded. We hope that the selected artists, organizations, and institutions achieve their goals and, along the way, stimulate reflection and encourage the recognition of the plurality within the contemporary art ecosystem.”
