The Zarur Collection opens a new exhibition space within the framework of First GDL ART WKND

The Zarur Collection opens a new space with the exhibition Anatomía del Hambre, by Guatemalan artist Jorge de León. The inauguration is on Friday, February 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., within the framework of First GDL ART WKND

Through a narrative spirit where paradox is capable of adapting to any context that seeks to question, we can delve into the body of work conceived by Jorge de León (1976, Guatemala); a compendium of stories that , beyond delving into the personal, seek to reconcile a universal language around the problems we face under a generalized notion of society using “human nature” as a premise to connect different approaches to a contemporary fable.
Although many of the criticisms suggested by this body of work can be related to different geopolitical contexts, many of the juxtapositions implemented here have been influenced by experience personal life of the artist as he grew up within the social conflicts that have characterized his native Guatemala and Central America in recent decades. The parallelism conceived in the different works is intended to be more suggested that implicit, although the author may hint at a source, is the timeless quality of his speech that allows us to relate individually to the message he seeks to manifest.
