"The House of the Decorator: the revolution of daily life" by Marco A. Castillo arrives to Art Week CDMX

The exhibition, curated by Dorothée Dupuis, is based on his research into the utopia of Cuban industrial design from the first years of the revolution.

The exhibition The House of the Decorator: the revolution of daily life opens to the public for the first time a modernist house in Roma Sur in Mexico City with a new body of work by Cuban artist Marco A. Castillo. The exhibition is based on his research into the utopia of Cuban industrial design from the first years of the revolution.
Speculating on a little-known history, since most of these radical productions were destroyed, lost, and their authors vanished into exile, Castillo Valdés’ works function as hybrid artifacts, monstrous and seductive creatures at the same time. They reflect on the timeless conflicts that arise in any attempt to organize human societies. The exhibition is curated by Dorothée Dupuis, and has the support of the Albarran Bourdais, KOW, and Nara Roesler galleries.
The public opening is on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 4-8pm as part of the “Invited” program of the Material fair, and with the support of Havana Club (in moderation!)
A discussion panel will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 12pm: Design, art and politics: Dangerous Liaisons with Marco Castillo Valdés, Abel González, Fernando Laposse, Laura Mott chaired by Dorothée Dupuis.
