SADE, Los Angeles, California, USA
June 14, 2015 – August 1, 2015
SADE is pleased to present “The Secret Garden,” a group exhibition featuring the work of Grupo Anan, Pablo Carillo, Katelyn Reeves and Dennis Wornick.
“The Secret Garden” marks SADE’s latest attempt to formalize its interior space, a theme explored earlier this year in the Ito Brothers’ “After Gruen.”
Three of four artists have intervened with the structure of the gallery chamber, though a member of Grupo Anan says of their attitude, “in some cases … [it] could be considered painterly.”
The fourth artist offers a painting that suggests sculptural considerations, such as human scale ratio and suggestive stretcher bar depth.
Permanence comes into play in two of the works: Grupo Anan’s embedded works serve to create the sense of miraculous discovery within the gallery veneer, and Katelyn Reeves’ manipulation of the front window and primary natural light source (through which she will also store and process a future work, secret to the naked eye).
Space, time, movement, light, and a vintage jet ski revel in “The Secret Garden.” Won’t you join them?
Gallery hours are Thursday – Saturday, 1 – 6 p.m. and by appointment.
