Río Grande, Puerto Rico
December 15, 2020 – January 7, 2021
Art is everywhere in Puerto Rico. Our vibrant culture, history, and traditions are displayed in the island’s rich and diverse artwork. From urban and contemporary to classical and folk art, there is no end to the inspiration in the local art scene.
El MERCADO (de arte) is an exhibition, designed by The Art Walk PR for St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, inspired by a traditional Mercado showcasing artworks from up and coming and renowned contemporary Puerto Rican artists.
Through painting, printmaking to sculptures, the exhibition displays contemporary visual language narrating the daily life and essence of the Puerto Rican culture while establishing a conversation between contemporary art and our traditional art, presenting objects that represent a diversity of popular expressions that are part of our identity, both from our past and present.
We want to bring the island’s essence and our traditions through contemporary art and unique experiences for the guests. From our traditional drink Malta India, unique fresh coco’s stands, contemporary bodegones, neon signed with our salsa rhythm to vejigantes and macrame inspired painting, we invite you to discover, explore and connect with our popular culture through contemporary art.
