Mariana Leme

Mariana Leme (1987, Brazil) is a curator and researcher in Art History. She has a degree in Visual Arts from the Escola de Comunicações e Artes at the Universidade de São Paulo and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the same institution. Under the guidance of Professor Domingos Tadeu Chiarelli, she investigates the relationship between whiteness, civilization, and colonialism in French painting. For four years she was part of the curatorial team of the MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, where she curated the exhibitions Pedro Figari: African nostalgia, with Pablo Thiago Rocca (2018) and Women’s Histories: Artists Before 1900, with Lilia Moritz Schwarcz and Julia Bryan-Wilson (2019). Since 2020, she has been a member of the Excelência Acadêmica Program of the federal agency CAPES (Coordinação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior).
