For the fifth consecutive year, Las Artes Monterrey presents its public art exhibition in one of the most emblematic places in the city: The Macroplaza of Monterrey. For six weeks, passersby and spectators will be able to see the work of 9 artists who have worked on their pieces specifically for this program, curated by Paola Santos Coy.
For this edition, the guest curator proposes the notion of a horizon as a productive image to think about the artistic event linked to the idea of the future, a territory of exploration and action in the city of Monterrey, crossing the space with pieces and artistic interventions that seek to articulate experiences of a different gaze or dialogues with specific communities. With the mountains as a horizon, the dialogue extends to the landscape, in its broadest sense.
Horizontes delves into the idea that art contributes to an experience, from the individual and collective, of our freedoms in today’s world and on the potential of art to create meaningful connections.
A parallel program of activities has also been designed to accompany this project, which seeks to trace a route of the Macroplaza in a diagonal line to imagine crossings, relationships and transversal readings of the themes present in Horizontes. The formats vary and are designed to broaden the reflections and also serve as research spaces. The program of guided tours and parallel activities will be available at www.lasartesmonterrey.com and on the initiative’s social networks.
