September 19, 2019 – September 22, 2019
ARTBO | International Art Fair of Bogota will celebrate its 15th anniversary from September 19 to 22, 2019, presenting 67 galleries from 17 countries, as well as 5 curatorial proposals as part of the sections: Proyectos, Referentes, Artecámara, Articularte and Libro de Artista. The fair brings together national and international galleries, curators, artists, and artworks in different formats and media, focusing on quality and diversity.
Curated by Aaron Cezar (Director, Delfina Foundation, London, United Kingdom), this section will present 11 projects by renowned contemporary artists in order to bring all audiences closer to the concept of performativity in its widest sense, stimulating spectators’ perception through works that relate to Live Arts and their diverse manifestations.
Curated by Krist Gruijthuijsen (Director, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Germany), this section will trace Colombia’s artistic networks through a multi-generational dialogue that follows references across art, literature, film, music and popular culture.
The exhibition curated by Helena Producciones (artist collective from Cali, Colombia) will present 27 proposals calling major societal challenges into question: corruption, inequality, looting, exploitation of human and cultural resources, and the progressive destruction of the environment.
This space is articulated around the theme «15 years of ARTBO», exploring the recent transformation of the art scene and the elements that promote and accompany artistic production, featuring 32 panelists and 13 talks.
This section aims to stimulate the viewers’ perception through works that transcend the traditional formats of exhibition. This year Sitio features six proposals, including A Logo for America, from Alfredo Jaar.
Other sections of the fair include: Libro de Artista, that showcases the latest collaborations between publishing houses and artists; and Articularte, a cultural and educational space devoted to plastic and visual arts.
