This short is an entertaining walk through the false illusion of freedom, consciousness and ecology of the city of Berlin, visiting some of its most colonial, racist and extractivist corners. If you have naively bought into the idea that Berlin is the coolest place in the world planet, this short is for you!

Berlin is currently one of the most idealized cities in Europe. They sell it to us as a
city where freedom, fun, but also political awareness reign. A paradise multicultural, full of queer, vegan, anarchist people who eat organic food, and who ride bicycles without polluting the environment. But how is this apparent alternative oasis? Who can be free in a city like this?

After making the documentary Madrid Colonial Mente, about how the coloniality in the city of Madrid, the Columbus-bianx artist Río Trueno, from his experience as migrant in Europe, he toured the German capital for a month, recording with his phone, visiting museums, shopping centers, tourist places, looking for clues to the past and present colonial Berlin and Germany.

I Don’t Love Berlin was recorded during an artistic residency held in 2019 in Berlin,
as part of the Videocratic program carried out by El Kruce and Kunstrial e. V. Has been part of The Surreal Film Festival in Berlin and Bogotá in 2022, from the audiovisual exhibition A Muerte Nao É o Fim in Mexico City and Pernanbuco, and the Ojo al Sancocho Festival in Berlin, in 2023.
