Casa Quién, Santo Domingo, República Dominicana
May 3, 2018 – July 27, 2018
Casa Quién Gallery presents a new solo show by conceptual Dominican-American artist Lucia Hierro. Titled Aquí y allá, the show is a clear allusion to the exchange generated among Dominicans in the diaspora with the country of origin. The artist is currently developing an artistic residency at the gallery and contemporary production space Casa Quién, combining works resulting from her stay in the country with a body of work produced in New York City providing new layers of meaning to conversations about dominicanity abroad.
Lucia Hierro is a Dominican-American artist born and raised in New York City, Washington Heights / Inwood, based in the Bronx. She received a BFA from SUNY Purchase (2010) and an MFA from the Yale School of Art (2013). She has participated in group exhibitions at the N’Namdi Gallery in Detroit, Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Brooklyn, NY Bronx Art Museum, Sugar Hill Art and Storytelling Museum, Paris Photo and recently at Elizabeth Dee Gallery in Harlem. She was an artist in residence at Fountainhead Residency and was part of the Bronx Museums Artist program in the Market program, as well as Yaddo Residency and the Red Bull House of Art Residency in Detroit.
