Concordia Studio Presents: 05:59

Imagen principal

This autumn, Concordia Studio invites you to explore 05:59, an innovative group exhibition featuring six contemporary Colombian artists who are reimagining traditional landscapes through abstraction. From October 17 to November 7, 2024, at the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) exhibition space in New York, you'll find dynamic works that transcend conventional notions of nature and place.

Curated by Danielle Juliao and Martin Isaza, 05:59 brings together Teresa Sanchez, Margarita Gutierrez, Luisa Montoya, Alejandro Sintura, Juan Rodriguez Varon, and Ana Mosseri. The exhibition examines how each artist utilizes memory, materiality, and personal experience to interpret the natural world. Sanchez and Gutierrez, prominent figures of the abstraction movement in the 1970s, approach nature through minimalist geometry and expressive woodwork. Younger artists like Mosseri and Sintura explore color theory and atmospheric gradients to evoke transitory moments like dawn or dusk.

The title 05:59 reflects those fleeting moments just before dawn or dusk, inviting viewers to contemplate the tension between light and darkness, presence and absence. Through their works, these artists challenge the audience to see landscapes not just as physical spaces, but as emotional and psychological experiences.

In addition to the visual exhibition, Concordia’s interdisciplinary programming will include artist workshops, panels, and immersive activities that blend art with design, fashion, and gastronomy. This holistic approach ensures that visitors engage with the works beyond the gallery, fostering intercultural dialogues and a deeper understanding of contemporary Colombian art.
