Willy Kautz

Is a curator of contemporary art. He is currently artistic director of the XIII FEMSA Biennial, Nunca fuimos contemporáneos. He was the artistic director of the Curatorial Program of the XII Biennial FEMSA, Poéticas del decrecimiento; and senior curator of Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (2012-2013), period in which he made the exhibitions: Hay más rutas que la nuestra, Matt Mullican; That World/Ese mundo, and Erick Beltrán. Atlas Eidolon. He was Head of Visual Arts at La Casa del Lago Juan José Arreola (2010-2011); Curator of Casa Vecina (2010); and Associate Curator of the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (2001-2005). His main exhibitions include: Cuasi-corpus. Arte concreto y neoconcreto de Brasil (2002); Gordon Matta-Clark: proyectos Anarquitectónicos (2003); Mira Schendel. Continuum amorfo (2004), at Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo; Yo uso perfume para ocupar más espacio, at Carrillo Gil Art Museum (2009); Pobre Artista Rico. El valor estético en transacción, at Casa del Lago Juan José Arreola (2012); Tropicalia Negra, at Museo Experimental El Eco (2013); José Luis Sánchez Rull, Cementerio Radioactivo. ¡Los humanos matan, la carne habla!, at Museo Universitario del Chopo (2014); Gabriel de la Mora. Lo que no vemos lo que nos mira, at Amparo Museum (2014-2015); Post neo mexicanismos, ESPAC, México City, Capilla de las Artes, Puebla, Arts Center, Monterrey and San Agustín, Zacatecas (2016 – 2017); Formasobrefondo, at Proyectos Monclova (2017). He lives and works in Mexico City.
