Curated by Daniel Garza Usabiaga, the exhibition offers an analysis of the evolution of the Biennial over the years, from its origin in 1992 as a competition for painting and sculpture to its transformation into a platform for contemporary art, encompassing expressions such as installation, photography, and video. In its process of evolution, it has adopted a traveling curatorial format focused on promoting dialogue and reflection on contemporary issues and cultural interaction, while becoming a reference both regionally and nationally.
With more than 80 works by 54 artists, including 10 invited artists and the rest incorporated into the FEMSA Collection through Acquisition Awards, honorable mentions, or for their artistic value, the curatorship focuses on artistic experimentation and the critical analysis of social and cultural trends, highlighting the importance of innovation and creative exchange. This approach aims not only to present artworks but also to stimulate a debate on the role of art in understanding and transforming our current context. Additionally, the exhibition provides the opportunity to appreciate the different transformations that the artistic production in Mexico has undergone since the 1990s.
