Argentina in ARCOmadrid and UVNT Art Fair

Imagen principal

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship, the Argentine Embassy in Spain, the Argentine Agency for Investments and International Trade, and the Secretariat of Culture of the Nation, in collaboration with MERIDIANO (Argentine Chamber of Contemporary Art Galleries) and the arteba Foundation, are coordinating a program of activities to promote Argentine visual arts within the framework of the Madrid fairs ARCOmadrid and UVNT, which will take place between March 5 and 9, 2025.

Argentina's participation in both events is represented by the following galleries: Del Infinito, Herlitzka & Co, Galería Nora Fisch, Rolf Art, Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte, W-galería, Isla Flotante, and Remota at ARCOmadrid, and Valerie's Factory and NN at UVNT.

The planned actions are part of Argentine Week in Spain, during which the country will present an agenda with artistic, gastronomic, and commercial proposals in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid from March 3 to 10.

The program to promote visual arts in Madrid will include networking meetings, exclusive guided tours for potential buyers through Argentine galleries, and strategic positioning actions on major sector platforms. These initiatives reinforce Argentina’s commitment to the international projection of its creative industries, with the goal of increasing visibility for Argentine art among collectors, curators, and international buyers, consolidating its presence in the global market.

On March 6, the "Argentine Art Scene" networking event will be held at the Official Residence of the Argentine Embassy in Spain. The Argentina Creativa Art Galleries Directory (https://www.cancilleria.gob.ar/es/directorios-argentina-creativa/galerias-arte), a key tool from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to connect the Argentine art ecosystem with international markets, will be presented. The guided tours through the Argentine galleries will be led by renowned professionals in the field: on Wednesday, March 5, the tours at ARCOmadrid will be conducted by Mariano Mayer, an Argentine poet, curator, and critic residing in Spain. In the following days, Mariella Franzoni, an Italian contemporary art curator, art theorist, and cultural manager, will accompany the tours at both fairs.

ARCOmadrid is Spain's International Contemporary Art Fair, which has been one of the leading platforms for the contemporary art market since its inception. It will celebrate its 44th edition with the Amazon as its central project: the curated program Wametisé: ideas for an amazofuturism will reflect on new modes of creation that represent hybrid existences between human, plant, physical, and metaphysical bodies. In this section, Rolf Art will present the work of MAPA TEATRO made in collaboration with the Nukak Community from the Colombian Amazon.

Furthermore, ARCOmadrid will again showcase artistic content with galleries from the General Program, the main axis of the fair, selected by the Organizing Committee, including Argentine galleries Del Infinito, Herlitzka & Co, Galería Nora Fisch, Rolf Art, Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte, and W-galería. On the other hand, the Perfiles | Latin American Art project will continue to strengthen the historical bond between ARCOmadrid and Latin America, with the participation of Isla Flotante gallery. In the Opening section, Remota will be featured, the Salta-based gallery that this year presents the work of Luis "Pajita" García Bes and Guido Yannitto, a prominent innovator in the art of weaving.

UVNT Art Fair will once again take place at Matadero Madrid. In its ninth edition, it will feature more than 40 galleries and 160 artists from various cities around the world and will debut a new section called FOCO LATAM, showcasing nine projects from Latin American galleries, including Valerie's Factory (Buenos Aires) and NN (La Plata).
