The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, the Argentine Embassy in Mexico, the National Secretariat of Culture, the Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency, in collaboration with MERIDIANO (Argentine Chamber of Contemporary Art Galleries) and Fundación arteba, are coordinating, for the second consecutive year, a program of activities to promote and position Argentine visual arts within the framework of the 2025 edition of Mexico City Art Week, which will take place from February 5 to 9.
The program will include networking events, positioning actions, and exclusive guided tours of Argentine art galleries for potential buyers. These initiatives reaffirm Argentina’s commitment to the internationalization of its creative industries, aiming to showcase Argentine art to collectors, curators, critics, and international buyers while strengthening its global presence in the contemporary art market.
On February 4, the networking event “Argentine Art Scene” will be held at the Official Residence of the Argentine Embassy in Mexico. On this occasion, the Argentina Creativa Art Galleries Directory (https://www.cancilleria.gob.ar/es/directorios-argentina-creativa/galerias-arte), a key tool developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to connect the Argentine art ecosystem with international markets, will be presented. This initiative expands the reach of Argentine galleries and highlights their artists within global art circuits. The guided tours will take place on Wednesday, February 5, at ZsONAMACO, and on Thursday, February 6, at Salón ACME and Material. They will be led by Argentine curator Gonzalo Lagos, Executive Director of MERIDIANO, who will provide an in-depth exploration of the national artistic proposals.
Mexico City Art Week will feature the participation of 12 Argentine galleries. At ZsONAMACO, which will take place from February 5 to 9 at Centro Citibanamex, seven Argentine galleries will be present. In the Sur Section, Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte will showcase works by Ana Gallardo and Liliana Porter, while Gachi Prieto will exhibit pieces by Leopoldo Maler and Andrés Waissman, whose works explore themes such as migration, exodus, interdisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, and colonial forms of power and hegemonic capital. In the General Section, Herlitzka & Co will present works by Andrés Bedoya, Juan Sorrentino, and Candelaria Traverso. The Ejes Section will feature four Argentine galleries: Galería Nora Fisch will present a dialogue between the paintings of Marina Daiez and the sculptures of Osías Yanov, and OTTO Galería will showcase works by Alec Franco and Eduardo Stupía. Subsuelo, in turn, will present works by Alicia Nakatsuka and Daniela Arnaudo, who explore the intersections between the natural and the cultural, the contemporary and the ancestral. Tramo will participate with works by Elisa Strada and Hernán Paganini.
Feria Material will celebrate its eleventh edition from February 6 to 9 at Expo Reforma, featuring four Argentine galleries. CONSTITUCIÓN will present works by Nicolás Said and Ana Won, and GALERÍA SENDRÓS will feature a solo exhibition by Andrés Piña. PASTO will showcase a duo exhibition featuring Santiago Licata and Lucas Simões, whose works pursue a symbolic synthesis that combines geometric elements with organic forms. Meanwhile, W-galería will present works by Ana Bidart, Gimena Macri, and Ramiro Quesada Pons, who develop an aesthetic inspired by everyday life, considering the ordinary and the mundane as sources of meaning and beauty.
Salón ACME is a platform and art event created by artists for artists, providing visibility and support to emerging creators from Mexico and abroad. In this edition, María Casado gallery will participate in the Invited Projects Section with artist Bruno Gruppalli, while Subsuelo will also be present, exhibiting the series "Rascacielos" by Ainelén Bertotti Burket, which consists of a video performance, a polyptych of still frames, and musical scores.
