If we are grounded in the world, we can see
our life as continuity and our life as a continuity and consequence
of what we have always been.

– Hannah Arendt

The exhibition embodies a need to understand, represent and question the practice and social expectation that is framed within the Jewish cultural tradition. Through the staging and recontextualization of a family archive, Orly Morgenstern undertakes the task of restoring the thread of her condition as a Jewish woman through human action that looks at and understands the past. Through photographs, montages of images from the family album and the work with the archive, she intends to illustrate a project that speaks about identity, memory and cultural traditions within Judaism.

The exhibition opened on May 4, 2023 at the Foro R-38 Laboratorio de Arte at 16:00 hrs, and will be open to the public Monday through Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00 hrs until August 12, 2023.

Orly Morgenstern studied professional photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía. She received a scholarship from FONCA in the Jóvenes Creadores program (2020-2021). Her work has been exhibited at the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, the Centro de las Artes Vivas, Immagini Galería and the Subsecretaría de Derechos Humanos in Mexico City, as well as selected for the 8th World Biennial of Student Photography in Novi Sad, Serbia (2021).
