Explore workshops, performances, and projections at the 15th FEMSA Biennial in Guanajuato.
Final weeks!
Activities like activations, workshops, performances, and screenings at the 15 Bienal FEMSA, The Voice of the Mountain, are still in full force. In addition to the Commissions program, comprised of 29 artistic projects developed especially for this edition of the biennial, there are two other programs taking place across 20 cultural spaces in the state of Guanajuato: Irregular Topographies and Travelling.
Through workshops, talks, performances, conferences, and other activities, the Irregular Topographies program highlights multiple styles and approaches to contemporary artistic practice. The Travelling program features an itinerant cycle of audiovisual works and a performative conference program. Curated by Eduardo Thomas, this program invites the audience to traverse sound and visual landscapes that blur the line between art and cinema.
This edition of the biennial focuses on the poetic dimension of art and invites the senses to response to Western-centric visions and rationales. The idea of the “mountain” is the jumping-off point for works expressed in images, metaphors, memories, and bodily experiences, forging a path of discovery and relationships within the world. The curation of The Voice of the Mountain explores corporeality, identity, territory, and landscape—themes inherent to the practices of the participating artists and that engage with the cultural spaces in the state of Guanajuato hosting this event.
You can visit the 15th Bienal FEMSA until August 25th. Learn more about this month’s activities by viewing the calendar at https://bienalfemsa.com/15bienal/agenda/.
