ASYMMETRIC SPACIALITIES: ARCHITECTURES OF INEQUITY operates as a laboratory that studies coloniality and decoloniality through the transformation of space and territory. The course addresses architecture as a practice or set of technologies of socio-environmental transformation, operating from and through three ecologies or levels: a macro environmental level composed of natural and social assemblages; a meso social level composed of social and trans-individual assemblages; and an individual micro level composed of the ways of existing. From these levels we will also study counter-technologies that question and undo the world we live in, to imagine and compose alternative spaces.

Through a collective publication, readings, conversations with guests, drawings, cartographies, case studies, among others, we will find ourselves in a horizontal arrangement and study together in a transverse way how space technologies (re)produce diverse forms of discrimination, inequity and exclusion.

Presented by coopia

coopia is a trans/in-disciplinary cooperative for the transformation of the territory that works through explorations of direct democracy. They promote, articulate and develop transversal models of collaboration and alternative formats of practice. These are oriented towards people and groups interested in the transformation of their spatial, political, economic, social and cultural territory. coopia recognizes the agency that spatial practices have on the territory and composes its ethos from four principles: cooperate, repeat, (re)distribute and reject. coopia started in 2019 and is currently composed by 14 associates among: Bogota, Mexico City, Eindhoven, and Lima.
