Cuidad de México, México
Form January 23- 26, 2020
Established in Mexico, Index Art Book Fair is an organization that creates a space for dialogue around art, architecture and design publications, thus serving as a platform for the dissemination of ideas related to the production and experimentation of the creative print medium. This fair brings together the leading independent art publishers from America and Europe, with special emphasis on artist and print books resulting from experimental approaches to editing, writing and printing. In addition, and through presentations of books, panels, workshops, readings, projections and performance, it seeks to be a space that encourages dialogue, exchange, creation and learning.
IABF thinks that the book arises from the care of a set of ideas, concepts and practices that crystallize or materialize in an object through its publishing. It can be considered that the book (and therefore the independent edition) is a practice that persists thanks to interwoven networks of care, and that is why the IABF 2020 public program will address publishing as an exercise in the care of ideas and how the act of publishing can be understood as a way of caring, cultivating and “building worlds.” To address these issues, Professor Emeritus Donna Haraway will give a lecture during the fair.
After celebrating its first edition in November 2014 at the Zapopan Museum of Art (MAZ), Index held its next two editions at the Jumex Museum in Mexico City in February 2016 and April 2017, respectively. In addition, it has had six satellite editions both in Mexico and abroad. This will be the fourth edition of the fair, and it will be possible thanks to the support of the kurimanzutto gallery.
