Valongo Festival was created in 2016 to investigate the different visual narratives that constitute the contemporary art scene. Comprehending a wide range of activities like exhibitions, performances, talks, seminars, workshops, music concerts and an artistic residency program, the Festival aims to offer a unique experience to viewers.
Taking place since its first edition in Valongo, a historical neighborhood located in the city of Santos, in São Paulo, Brazil, the festival takes its territory as its starting point. During the event, the whole area is transformed by contemporary art practices: historical buildings turn into educational spaces, streets are populated by performances and ruins become sight for exhibitions.
