The current economic crisis caused by the pandemic has shown the complex and difficult situation that art workers in the country and region are going through. As a possibility to the current crisis, No Lugar has proposed the Fondo Común de Emergencia [Emergency Common Fund], a crowdfunding campaign, which invites and enables voluntary contributions and also the possibility to acquire works from more than 45 contemporary Ecuadorian artists, who have joined the campaign by donating works.
The objective of this fund is to have the economic resources that allow us to develop La Casa en el Aire, initiative that offers access to housing and work spaces for 2 artists financially affected by the COVID-19, in the residence of No Lugar from June to August. This is a first pilot program that seeks to defend the positive effects that basic rights to housing and the rent of spaces for studies could have on the artistic community. The Fund will also serve as support for the work and continuity of the activities carried out by No Lugar since 2010.
