is pleased to announce its participation in ZONAMACO 2023, presenting the work of Fabrizio Arrieta.

The work of Fabrizio Arrieta (Costa Rica, 1982) understands personal identity as an unstable value transmitted by many factors that reveal the impact of mass media and its effects on aesthetics, culture, and society.

Arrieta appropriates existing imagery, mainly related to the world of fashion, and employs the age-old strategy of using elements of the dominant culture to create transformative expressions that defy that dominance.

The works for the booth, in the curated section Zona Maco Sur, are aesthetic delights and endlessly engaging compositions. At the same time, they are talismans that force us to question the traditional concept of beauty imposed by conventional society.

Focusing on technique, structure, and composition, Arrieta offers us an incisive and seductive work at first sight, but whose perverse games unleash a curiosity that persuades us to look for “another” image and its underlying narrative. He touches on the limits of abstraction, transforming what is recognizable into something more significant, unsettling, and moving.

DiabloRosso is a creative think tank located in the historic old quarter of Panama City. It is also a community that supports and promotes artistic talent in its broad and multidisciplinary definition.

Founded in 2006 to help fill the existing void for emerging art practices in the region, it has established itself as a place of empowerment and stimulation, advancing the public’s appreciation for contemporary art, mainly through the generation of social impact in the surrounding community.
