May 20 and 21 at La Quiñonera
As part of Intercuraduria’s research to delve deeper into curatorial work in Mexico and other latitudes, we summon for the first Curatorial Encounter: Desde la inercia hasta el desborde. This self-managed initiative brings together different projects and cultural agents that develop in curatorial practice from different starting points, in order to open a conversation about the evolution of their work and to carry out exhibition exercises in the space of La Quiñonera, as a symbolic place that has hosted creative initiatives in different historical moments of the artistic field.
We find value in the plurality of profiles and practices that make curatorial work a critical and sensitive tool for artistic appreciation, the agency of social problems and the configuration of new curatorial paradigms. Fifteen curatorial collectives will be invited to symbiotically occupy the spaces of the Casa de la Quiñonera.
Simultaneously, we will offer a program of roundtable discussions with curators and cultural and creative agents with different perspectives to enrich the discussions during the meeting. With the aim of (re)thinking the ways of curating today, the ways of the agency of creative/artistic practices, and the need to experiment with other “new” formats, we will discuss topics ranging from the poetics of the archive, feminist perspectives and digital production, among other approaches that go beyond the current art system.
