Lisbon is ready to seduce professionals and lovers of contemporary art with the celebration of the 4th edition of ARCOlisboa, which is held from May 16 to 19 at the Cordoaria Nacional to show the vibrant artistic scene of Portugal in dialogue with art from all over the world.

ARCOlisboa 2019 will welcome the participation of 71 galleries from 17 countries through the different sections of the fair.

The main axis of the fair, the General Program, will consist of 50 galleries, some of which will participate for the first time as Vera Munroo Georg Kargl. To these are added others who return to the fair as Krinzinger, Greengrassi, Pietro Sparta or Vermelho. The program Opening will focus again on galleries with a trajectory of a maximum of seven years with the aim of providing new contents to the fair. It will be formed by 11 galleries selected by João Laia, including some recently created as Lehmann + Silva from Oporto, Jahmek from Luanda, or Fran Reus from Palma de Mallorca. The Projects section will show 9 projects by individual artists such as Daniel García Andújar–Àngels Barcelona–; Gerold Miller–Cassina Projects–, Rita GT–Belo Galsterer–and Nicolás Grospierre–Alarcón Criado–.

Africa em Foco, curated by the curator and architect Paula Nascimento, will present a selection of galleries from Angola, Uganda, Mozambique and South Africa with individual stands interspersed by the fair.

As is traditional in the contents of ARCOlisboa, the fair will once again present a special section devoted to contemporary art publications, which on this occasion will be directed by Arts Libris and which will include the participation of around 50 art publishers.

Millenium Art Talks and En què estou a trabalhar will become spaces open to discourse and the discovery of new projects. On this occasion, the conversations about collecting will be accompanied by the investigation of creation in Africa and conversations with artists about their projects and creative processes.
