Desgastes is a photographic project that deals with memory and remembrance. It is based on the documentation of testimonies of women who share their experience with their bodies, allowing us to identify, sensitize, share and frame the determinations that regulate our history, questioning also the history that is told through our bodies.

Desgastes does not only seek to put an end to the sexualization and romanticization of women’s bodies that have been shaped by others, but it also shows the wear and tear produced by the whole, by living. Those abrasions that have been framed in the skin, as well as in the identity, that which unintentionally, we were forced to silence and hide.

Desgastes pauses time and highlights that part of the body that has something to say. Because the body speaks, transpires, and has a language, it tells our story and wears out in the process. Each mark and scar is the evidence of an event and wear and tear also presents the reconstruction of the body’s memory.

The exhibition seeks people willing to confront the self, as well as diverse people willing to observe other bodies that are not from a magazine, that have not been retouched.
