Tembló acá un delirio

The work of Ana Gallardo (Rosario, Argentina, 1958) stems from the need to make mourning a public process from a perspective that centers on the open wound of violence against women. Far from occupying the role of the victim, Gallardo stages a desire for personal and collective revenge that is based on the possibility of activating the materials of mourning through an artistic practice that repairs and enables transformations.

The autobiographical dimension of this journey through twenty years of production materializes in a collection of works interwoven with oral testimonies, confessions, and written accounts by various contributors with which Ana Gallardo questions how and with whom to learn to live and age differently, while striving to realize the dreams of women who defy the mandates of capitalist social reproduction.

Tembló acá un delirio, an exhibition curated by Alfredo Aracil and Violeta Janeiro in collaboration with Alejandra Labastida, does not present itself as a retrospective but rather proposes a drift of many possibilities, a log of Ana Gallardo’s detours through the global South and its geographies of necropolitical and extractivist violence.

Tembló acá un delirio is on view until December 15, 2024, at Sala 9 of MUAC, from August 10 to December 15, 2024
