Inhabiting Collapse by Cynthia Guitiérrez is based on the exhibition of the same name at the Museo Cabañas in Guadalajara and finds material echoes in the artist’s trajectory that fissure a present in crisis. Through the recognition and appropriation of sculptural language, she makes an incisive critique of the hegemonic discourses that reproduce the national identity, the political processes that maintain the nation-states, the white pedestal and the exhibit space. Her work proposes a dialogue between reality and fiction, between the handmade and the reproduction dynamics of capital, between the permanent and that which can mutate.
