Nanocratics

By Glenda Heyliger

The experienced Aruban creator conjugates the relationship between the various contemporary human issues and the defense of the soul; as well as the right to strengthen the individual and collective immune system as an action conceived for the convergence between the human and its environment.

This artistic production makes the artist’s studio space for exploration and research. Simultaneously, a laboratory houses different forms of thought and practices. Heyliger builds intuitive notes and dedicates hours of research, which unfolds through a series of sensitive tests achieved through an improvised bacteriological laboratory.

From March 31 at 12:01 pm, the public had access to this exhibition. Subsequently, during the following months until its closing, the artist carried out this research conceived as a work in progress that does not end with her virtual room presented at EL PRAN Projecten.

Kontemplashon di multiplisidat den kontekstonan

By Nash Caldera

Nash Caldera (Curacao / NL) proposes different exercises combining the right to the construction of identity from tradition, the space of origin, cultural appropriation, and empowerment of the mother tongue in physical actions that articulate poetic and political gestures in various contexts.

Under the title Kontemplashon di multiplisidat den kontekstonan the creator showed the results of a curatorial accompaniment exercise carried out by EL PRAN Projecten, which began in January 2021 and continued until its presentation. For almost three months, it has been possible to visit the exhibition of the video performances and actions through the PRAN Projecten website.

This virtual showroom is composed of several audiovisual pieces. These pieces trace a new space between videography and the documentation of physical actions. It is a set of acts that the artist has been exploring regularly.

Thus, this project represents Caldera’s discoveries made in the post-covid-19 context, wherein she conditions the reflection on the body and its senses on a global scale as the epicenter of the pandemic.

By Armando Ruiz

The artist Armando Ruiz (Colombia / Venezuela) presents a proposal where he addresses the problem of migratory displacements of the Venezuelan society, which has triggered a humanitarian crisis in the region, affecting the receiving countries, and has generated substantial challenges within their communities.

This proposal has its epicenter in the border city of Cucuta, located in the Colombian province of Norte de Santander. From this scenario of humanitarian emergency, the artist Armando Ruiz makes a record of mobility from its urban and material expressions. Simultaneously, he elaborates visual poetics of critical character, focusing on the notions of identity, nation, monument, public space, among others, through a dialogue with the signs that seek to define the nation in counterpoint with the contingent signs of the exodus of migrants.
