NAFTAlgias

Espacio Deslave, Tijuana, México
December 22, 2017 – January 31, 2018

NAFTAlgias. An open text towards the sensibility of free market is the first exhibition by the Art & Labor BWEPS collective. The show—more than merely being an exhibit of objects in the space—is conformed of various elements that facilitate a group of activities, presentations, performances and study meetings that aim to activate the space through time. Among them are a marathon of the Black Mirror series on Netflix; presentations with diverse topics such as NAFTA, the neoliberal sensibility of contemporary artistic production and mobilization strategies against violence; the workshop-performance Mezcálnica Popular held on Sundays at noon by artist Irak Morales; and finally, a group of studies that meets every Saturday to read essays on border art and aesthetics in order to assemble a collaborative text by the participants.

*Art & Labor BWEPS is a multidisciplinary group of Biquini Wax EPS to analyze contemporary art under the capitalist mode of production conformed by Alejandro Gómez Arias, Bernardo Núñez Magdaleno, Gustavo Cruz, Roselin Espinosa, Neil Mauricio Andrade, Daniel Aguilar Ruvalcaba and Israel Urmeer.
