Every month Marginalia invites an artist, curator or project to provide a series of images that will serve as the background of Terremoto, in relation to their practice and current interests. At the end of each month, the identity of our guest is revealed and the whole series of images is unveiled.

Taking advantage of the scroll rate on Instagram, which reaches speeds up to one image per second, I started a game that generates images for the subconscious. Between you and I there are too many things in common: the lifestyle, the images we consume, the languages, etc. In many aspects, we are part of the same cloud.
I would like to share the methodology with you.
First Filter: a roll of the mutations book (I Ching) with special dice for other game. Second Filter: selection of key words. Third Filter: key words search in Google Image Search (just large images). Fourth Filter: selection of the image or images from the Google search according to my criteria. Fifth Filter: manipulation of the images, to superimpose two and to apply them all a similar texture.
I felt the desire to make this game with you, knowing that the result is not mine to analyze nor to understand it, a game of synchronicity. Jung (1949)* explains: “(…) synchronicity considers the coincidence of events in space and time as meaning something more than a mere chance, that is to say a particular interdependence of events that are objective from each other, as between them and the subjective (psychic) conditions of the observer or observers.”
The first coincidence occurred on September 7, when the earthquake took place. From now on, a sixth filter was produced, the word terremoto aside all posted images. The second coincidence occurred on September 19, when another earthquake—this time with devastating consequences—, happened on the same date as another devastating earthquake 32 years ago. For some days there was an interruption of images.
If coincidences take place in our experience and are meaningful, they are enhancers; they show something true and call us to relate in a much deeper level, beyond any social construction.
