MARGINALIA #24

By Lourdes Martínez
May 1, 2017 – May 31, 2017

Every month Marginalia invites an artist, curator or project to provide a series of images that will serve as the background of Terremoto, in relation to their practice and current interests. At the end of each month, the identity of our guest is revealed and the whole series of images is unveiled.

Mortuary rituals to fascism

Our capitalist scenery complements and offers cheese meanings networks from which to glimpse meat answers that doesn’t precisely perfume truths, they line up things to my speculative impulses.

Kleenex propaganda pastiches authorize me to see faith contours on the intestines-colonizers ham fruits.

I grab a piece of paper to do my grocery list. Calories, fatty acids, carbs and transgenics altar in line with my anorexia of spirit. It placed a mute “H” in each word to face its reality and mine. I use it up until it acquires a mystical tone:

Havocado
Ham
Meath
Mhilk
Salth
Shugar
Rhice
Bheans
Phasta
Mayhonnaise
Cheese
Thortilla
Bimbo bhakeries
Letthuce
Marihuana
Cohcaine
Ahir-time
Pain mhedicine

In each product, I hunt my similarities. I enroll my spirit to the dogma of the money smell. It liberates me. I go from the disciplinary objectivity to the libertine moral of abstract ideas and I take over a hygienist-neoliberal-scenery: cheese totems, ham, fascism and vanity.
