Tiago Carneiro da Cunha

Awarded the Brazilian Government’s Apartes/Capes scholarship in 1998 for postgraduate studies in Visual Arts at Goldsmiths College, London, he was tutored by the Chapman Brothers, Pierre Bismuth and Liam Gillick, among other artists. Since then, he has had solo exhibitions at Galeria Fortes Vilaça (São Paulo), Kate Macgarry Gallery (London) and Misako&Rosen Gallery (Tokyo) and has taken part of group exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide. Recent noteworthy exhibitions include 30th São Paulo Biennial (2012), Bienal Naïfs do Brasil 2016 (SESC, 2016), Prospect 2013 (Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, EUA, 2013) and New Work: Tiago Carneiro da Cunha and Klara Kristalova (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art – SFMoma, 2010). He was a Guest Artist at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, in 2009; and Guest Lecturer at the 2010 Capacete/São Paulo Bienal Talks. His work is featured in public and private collections such as the Coleção Gilberto Chateaubriand (Museu de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro), Saatchi Collection (UK), and Thyssen-Bornemissa TB21 (Austria).
