is a novelist, playwright, nonfiction writer, screenwriter, gay activist, and AIDS historian from the United States. She is a distinguished professor of the humanities at College of Staten Island (CSI) and a fellow at the New York Institute for the Humanities. She is a recipient of the Bill Whitehead Award.
