Juliana Dos Santos

Has a BFA in Visual Arts and a MFA in Art & Education from the Sao Paulo State Institute of Arts (UNESP). She has been developing researches on Afro-Brazilian art and culture together with the valorization of black artists and Afro-Diasporic aesthetics. She has worked as an art educator in the Afro Brazil Museum where she developed educational activities. Has had experience with some of the research groups in traditional and popular manifestations of African matrices of Afro-Brazilian dance and musicality. Dos Santos has participated in exhibitions and national and international residencies with videos-performances, performances, photography, installation and urban intervention among other languages. The poetics of her works range from reflections of gender, race and class to investigation of more formal visual arts and relational elements such as mediation and interventions in public space.
