Mexico, 1989
Helena Lugo (Mexico, 1989) is an art historian and independent curator. She received her MFA in curatorial studies from Goldsmiths College after obtaining the FONCA-CONACYT scholarship for study abroad. She has had exhibitions in museums, galleries and independent spaces in London, Mallorca, Venice, Cuernavaca and Mexico City. She interned at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum (2012), worked in the British pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), was assistant curator at Chalton Gallery, London (2015-2016), research coordinator at the Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo Juan Soriano (2017- 2018) and is editor of the publication A Return to the Island (2018). She participated in the second edition of the Shanghai Curators Lab (2019) and the sixth edition of the Curatorial Program Back to the North (2022). She is currently curator at Palmera Ardiendo and exhibition coordinator at Salón ACME.
