Fritzia Irizar-Rojo

Studied painting at the School of Arts and Crafts of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, she has a degree in Visual Arts at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking “La Esmeralda” in Mexico City and the Specialization in sculpture at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in Michigan, USA. She has obtained three times the grant for Jóvenes Creadores of the state of Sinaloa, as well as the Jóvenes Creadores grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) of Mexico in three of its broadcasts, the grant of the BANCOMER-MACG Arte actual 2011 program, the residence grant by the French Institute at the Centre International des Recollets in 2016 and the Residency fellowship at the Headlands Center for the Arts in San Francisco in 2016. Likewise, she was chosen by the commission of the CIFO Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation of the United States of America in its program of prizes and commissions 2011, as well as by the program of residences AIR-KREMS in Austria in 2013. Among the distinctions obtained are: the International Prize “Unión Latina a la Creación Joven”, the prize “Antonio Lopéz Saenz”, the State Prize of Photography of Salón de la Plástica Sinaloense, the acquisition prize of the Northwest Biennial and the BMW Journey Award nomination in 2015. Recently her work was part of the MERCOSUR Biennial in Brazil and has exhibited in Germany, France, Spain, United States, Belgium, Colombia, England, among others.
