Diego Ventura Puac-Coyoy

Maya k’iche. Freelance art curator and publisher. Founder of espacio/C in Chichicastenango El Quiché. He has studies in Political Science and also in Art Restoration from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. His work focuses on the research and staging of projects on historical memory, indigenous peoples, territory and food. He has been part of the community curatorship of the Bienal en Resistenciaa (2019) with the project Sabemos sus nombres, registration of ancient trades in contemporary times, Esta tierra que es nuestra (Marilyn Boror Bor), notes on the autonomy of the territories and its implication in food security and sovereignty (2020) and others. In 2015, he co-curated the selection Guatemala: memoria y vanguardia intemporal from the Imago Mundi collection of the Benetton Foundation. He has also been part of the Indigenous Mayor’s Office of Chichicastenango, El Quiché during 2016 and 2018. He currently receives training and ancestral knowledge from Maya K’iche’ spiritual guides to receive his wrapping or position within Mayan spirituality.
