Claudia Rodríguez

Claudia Rodriguez began her transvestite activism in 1991, after the end of the military dictatorship in Chile. She has received different trainings in Human Rights, History of Sexuality, HIV/AIDS and STI Prevention and Gender Theory. In 1997 she joined the national project of the Ministry of Health as a specialist counselor in AIDS prevention. In 2007 she took the Diploma in Gender at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the University of Chile. In 2008 she began a career in Social Work at the Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano. In 2007 she took writing workshops with the poet Diego Ramirez and published her first poetry fanzine “Dramas Pobres”. In 2011 she formed the First Travesti Theater Company with the play “Historias Travestis”. Today his main interest is to problematize literacy and art production as a political strategy in transvestite organizations.
