Ana Rosa Valdez

She is an Ecuadorian-Salvadorian curator and art critic. Art historian from the Universidad de la Habana. Master in Cultural Studies from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar. She has taught at the Instituto Tecnológico de Artes del Ecuador (ITAE), Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and Universidad de las Artes. She was coordinator of the Mariano Aguilera National Arts Award, curator at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Quito and National Director of Artes Plásticas en el Ministerio de Cultura y Patrimonio. She is currently editorial director of Paralaje.xyz, a space for art criticism and cultural debates, and coordinator of the Museo Universitario de la Universidad Central del Ecuador. Her recent research addresses artistic representations of the Amazon rainforest, art and activism, and creative practices in immersive virtual environments.
