On Saturday, July 13th in Los Angeles, The New Arts Foundation will present rememberforget, an exhibition of new paintings and video installation by Greg Jenkins. Tickets and information are available at www.remember-forget.com.

New Arts, a nonprofit that produces Outsider Art events to fundraise for mental health, will host the show to benefit NAMI Urban Los Angeles, with support from the Wilshire Center-Koreatown Neighborhood Council. NAMI Urban LA is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization.

With DJ accompaniment by MAX V, the show will provide a deeper understanding of Jenkins’ restless, yet introspective means of self-expression. In his paintings in rememberforget, the artist studies memory and distance through erasure, surrealist abstraction, and a hurried scrawl. He explores similar themes in his 800 square foot video installation, of which he says:

This installation contains hundreds of clips from videos found on the internet. Most of these videos are not mine—I have no recollection of ever taking them. But, through the process of excavation, division, and association, these videos have become memories of my own. They’ve allowed me the joy once more to see passed family and friends, and offered a meditation on my past lives.

rememberforget will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 7 pm – 12 am, at Monk Space, 4414 West 2nd Street in Koreatown.

The New Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 38-4093966). To donate, visit www.new-arts.us/contribute.
